My word for 2024
Hey lovely person, are you someone who feels the significance of the new year as it rolls over you? No, me either. Well, that was until I saw a few people setting themselves a theme for the year. That actually made me ponder.
To market, to market jiggity jig
It was a real treat to meet some new human beans at the markets last month. I love meeting people who have an eye for colour, and come alive when drawn to pattern and textiles. I am the same.
It’s Kitchen Game-on!
August just passed me by in a flurry of travel and sewing, and there was a blue moon and Spring sprung while I wasn't looking! You may have already seen sneaky peeks on instagram, but I am super excited to share my latest creations with you.
Did someone say butts?
This list of the latest trending searches on the rise on Spoonflower gave me pause…
The Handmade’s Towel
It’s nearly the end of June, and I just made it by the skin of my toofs getting something down on ‘paper’. Which was one of my many goals. I’ve never had so many goals, and so little time! Sometimes it feels like time is running out, and that was BEFORE the artificial intelligence impending change of paradigm. Hey, maybe that’s a discussion for another time.
Design competitions… the good, the bad, and the fugly.
Sometimes in the sleepless parts of sleep, I find myself thinking about the design challenges we are offered as emerging artists and designers. I see Instagram is full of design prompts and challenges which are GREAT for unsticking the sticky blocks of creativity, and I have had whole pattern collections come out of them so YAY! But there is another type of prompt I am in two minds about.
My first day
It's Monday today, and it's my first day. Well, not at a new school, but in this new version of life with two whole days for my art business. No not weekends any more (although try to keep me out of that studio I dare you!)
Sometimes nice things happen
As an artist who loves being in the arty farty zone, and mostly on my ownsome, I can struggle to remember to share any of my experiences. It’s easy to forget that anyone would be interested, like you dear reader, if you got to this point, maybe you are…well lucky me.
The Love Boat Theory
Do you remember the TV show from the seventies called The Love Boat? No, me either…
Let me introduce myself…
In case you were wondering who on earth is this? I’m Tamsin, an Australian artist from birth, emerging into a life centred around illustration and surface pattern design. So how did I land here? Thanks for asking…
